Should be used only for proven or strongly suspected bacterial infection.\n\nDosage and Administration\n\nUsual adult dosage is 250 mg to 500 mg every 8 hours, or 500 mg to 875 mg every 12 hours, depending on infection severity. Therapy should continue for at least 48 to 72 hours beyond resolution of symptoms; infections due to S. pyogenes should be treated for a minimum of 10 days.\n\nWarnings and Precautions\n\nSerious and occasionally fatal hypersensitivity (anaphylactic) reactions can occur with penicillins\nClostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea and colitis may develop\nA high incidence of erythematous rash occurs if given during mononucleosis\nPrescribing without proven or suspected bacterial infection promotes drug-resistant bacteria\nContraindications\n\nContraindicated in patients with a history of serious hypersensitivity (e.g., anaphylaxis or Stevens-Johnson syndrome) to amoxicillin or to other beta-lactam antibiotics such as penicillins and cephalosporins.\n\nAdverse Reactions\n\nThe most common adverse reactions are diarrhea, rash, vomiting, and nausea.\n\nStorage and Handling\n\nStore at 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F).
