Indications for Use:
Dry Eye Syndrome Diagnosis – Evaluates tear production levels for dry eye assessment.
Tear Film Stability Measurement – Determines basal and reflex tear secretion.
Pre-Surgical Ocular Assessment – Ensures tear function stability before refractive, cataract, or corneal surgeries.
Autoimmune & Systemic Disease Screening – Used in the evaluation of Sjögren’s Syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, and other autoimmune disorders.
Directions for Use:
Preparation:
Conduct the test in low-light conditions to minimize reflex tearing.
Instruct the patient to look forward or slightly upward and avoid excessive blinking.
Application:
Fold the strip at the pre-marked notch.
Insert the folded end into the lower conjunctival sac, approximately one-third from the outer canthus.
Ensure minimal patient discomfort and keep the strip in place.
Measurement:
Allow the strip to remain in the eye for exactly 5 minutes.
Carefully remove and measure the wetted area in millimeters.
Tear Production Interpretation:
≥15 mm – Normal tear production.
10–14 mm – Mild tear deficiency.
5–9 mm – Moderate tear deficiency.
<5 mm – Severe dry eye or tear deficiency.
Note: Clinical evaluation should be used to interpret test results accurately.
