Oculus Keratograph 5M: Tear Film and Meibomian Gland Analysis
A topographer that does the full dry eye diagnostic workup, non-invasive TBUT, automated meibography, bulbar redness grading, and tear meniscus height, plus standard corneal topography for surgical screening.
Key points
- Available on the Dry Eye Rescue wholesale platform.
- Measures non-invasive tear breakup (NIKBUT) with no fluorescein.
- Automated infrared meibography grades gland loss in both lids.
- Adds bulbar redness grading, tear meniscus height, and full corneal topography.
What it does
The OCULUS Keratograph 5M is a color topographer with a built-in real keratometer and optimized software for external ocular imaging. In the dry eye workflow it captures:
- NIKBUT (Non-Invasive Keratograph Tear Breakup Time), first and average TBUT measured fluorescein-free
- Automated meibography, infrared imaging of meibomian glands in both upper and lower lids with automated gland loss grading
- Bulbar redness grading, Jenvis Grading Scale automated scoring of conjunctival and limbal redness
- Tear meniscus height, objective measurement of the inferior tear reservoir
- Lipid layer assessment, optional module for interferometric lipid layer evaluation
- Standard corneal topography, Placido ring topography for contact lens fitting and surgical screening
Why it belongs in a dry eye practice
The Keratograph 5M generates a complete, objective, documentable dry eye report from a single non-contact exam, no dye, no staining, no slit lamp manipulation required for the core battery. Patient-facing color reports (the "JENVIS Dry Eye Report") show gland images, redness maps, and NIKBUT trends over time, making case presentation and treatment acceptance significantly easier. Because it also performs standard topography, it works as a dual-purpose instrument in refractive and cataract practices.
