Indications and Usage
An alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist indicated to dilate the pupil.
Dosage and Administration
For patients 1 year of age and older, apply one drop to the eye, repeating at 3 to 5 minute intervals up to a maximum of 3 drops per eye. The 2.5% concentration is preferred in patients with hypertension or thyrotoxicosis.
Warnings and Precautions
- For topical ophthalmic use only; not for injection
- May cause serious cardiovascular reactions; monitor blood pressure
- Risk of blood pressure elevation, particularly in young children and patients with cardiovascular disease
- Rebound miosis may occur the day after administration
Contraindications
Contraindicated in pediatric patients under 1 year of age.
Adverse Reactions
Ocular effects include eye pain, stinging, temporary blurred vision, and photophobia. Systemic effects include increased blood pressure, syncope, myocardial infarction, and arrhythmias.
Storage and Handling
Store at 2°C to 25°C (36°F to 77°F). Keep container tightly closed.

Sterile aqueous solution supplied in a 10 mL opaque white LDPE bottle with a controlled dropper tip.
