About the Product

The S5 Inserter is a hands free stand that holds a scleral or hybrid contact lens and lights it from below during insertion. The height from the base of the device to the top of the lens holder adjusts from 10.5 inches (27 cm) to 2 feet 6 inches (76 cm). The LED light unit recharges over USB and reaches a full charge after 1 hour plugged in. The box holds the stand with its adjustable height column and integrated LED, a USB charging cable and a user manual.

This is an insertion stand for scleral and hybrid contact lens wearers. Because the stand supports the lens, both hands stay free to hold the upper and lower eyelids apart instead of balancing the lens on one fingertip, and the LED lets the wearer line the eye up with the center of the lens. The height range sets the lens at the wearer's own working height for standing insertion at a counter or mirror. It was developed by optometrist Dr. Fayiz Mahgoub, and every unit comes with unlimited one on one coaching with Dr. Mahgoub and his team, available 7 days a week by phone, text, email and video chat.

How to Use

1. Set the device up on a flat, dry surface with the telescoping arm vertical, and adjust the lens holder to a comfortable height.
2. Wash your hands and clean the lens holder with an alcohol wipe.
3. Place the lens on the holder and fill the bowl with preservative free saline above the lens edge.
4. Twist the top half of the light unit counterclockwise to switch the LED on. The light looks perfectly round when you are lined up with the center of the lens.
5. Position your head directly over the lens, holding both eyelids firmly open.
6. Slowly lower your head toward the lens until you feel contact, then lift your head and release the eyelids.
7. Check for air bubbles, then repeat for the second eye. Twist the light unit clockwise to switch the LED off.

Care and Cleaning

Clean the rubber lens holder with an alcohol wipe before every use and replace the holder every 3 months. Clean the outside of the light unit with a paper towel immediately after use, before disconnecting, and clean the outside of the device with alcohol wipes at least once per week. Dry the device thoroughly before storing it. Charge the light unit when the light becomes dim.
