About the Product

Boston One Step Liquid Enzymatic Cleaner is a sterile, aqueous, preservative free solution containing proteolytic enzyme (subtilisin) and glycerol. This box holds 15 sterile single use dispensers of 0.01 FL OZ (0.3 mL) each. It is indicated for weekly enzymatic cleaning of fluoro silicone acrylate and silicone acrylate rigid gas permeable contact lenses.

This is the weekly protein removal step of a rigid gas permeable lens routine, and it is used once a week on top of the daily routine rather than in place of it. It is not used on its own: after the daily clean with Boston Cleaner or Boston ADVANCE Cleaner, the lens case is filled with fresh Boston Conditioning Solution or Boston ADVANCE Comfort Formula Conditioning Solution and 2 drops from one dispenser go into each lens well. Do not use directly in the eye. Lenses must be rubbed and rinsed for approximately 5 seconds with a Boston Conditioning Solution before they are inserted, so that the enzymatic cleaner is thoroughly rinsed off.

Materials

  • Proteolytic enzyme (subtilisin) The enzyme in the formula, which performs the weekly enzymatic cleaning of the lens.
  • Glycerol Also present in the solution.
  • No preservative The solution is preservative free.

How to Use

  1. After daily cleaning (with Boston® Cleaner or Boston ADVANCE® Cleaner) and rinsing, place lenses in lens case and fill to top with any fresh Boston® Conditioning Solution or Boston ADVANCE® Comfort Formula Conditioning Solution. It is important that the lens case is completely filled with fresh solution to ensure proper dilution of the Liquid Enzymatic Cleaner to reduce any chance of irritation.
  2. Detach one container from the strip by pulling tab toward you from top to bottom. To open, twist the tab off the single-use container. Squeeze container to release 2 drops of Boston® One Step Liquid Enzymatic Cleaner into each lens well already filled with Conditioning Solution. Soak lenses for at least 4 hours (or overnight) before wearing and to ensure proper cleaning and disinfecting. Always use fresh solution for soaking and storing lenses. Discard container immediately after use.
  3. After removing lenses from the lens case, rub and rinse lenses for approximately 5 seconds with any Boston® Conditioning Solution to ensure that the enzymatic cleaner is thoroughly rinsed off the lenses. DO NOT USE TAP WATER FOR THIS FINAL RINSE.
  4. Apply fresh Conditioning Solution to wet the lenses for additional cushioning, if desired, and insert.
  5. Discard solution from the lens case immediately and thoroughly clean interior of lens case with a sterile disinfecting solution and air dry after each use.

Care and Cleaning

Discard solution from the lens case immediately and thoroughly clean interior of lens case with a sterile disinfecting solution and air dry after each use. Replace the lens case at least once every 3 months.

Warnings

Do not use directly in the eye. This solution is potentially irritating if misused. Redness or symptoms of irritation may occur if lenses are inadvertently inserted into the eyes without thoroughly rinsing off the enzymatic cleaner. If instilled into the eyes, immediately remove lenses and rinse your eyes with cool fresh water until all of the enzymatic cleaner is thoroughly removed from the eyes. If problems persist, contact your eye care practitioner.

To avoid contamination, never touch dropper tip of the container with your hands or to any surface. Contact lenses and solutions, if not handled properly, can become contaminated by common bacteria known to cause ocular infections. Serious damage to the eye and loss of vision may result from using contaminated solutions or from wearing contaminated or damaged contact lenses.

PROBLEMS WITH CONTACT LENSES AND LENS CARE PRODUCTS COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY TO THE EYES. It is essential that you follow your eye care practitioner's directions and all labeling instructions for proper use of your lenses and lens care products, including the lens case.

EYE PROBLEMS, INCLUDING CORNEAL ULCER, CAN DEVELOP RAPIDLY AND CAN LEAD TO LOSS OF VISION. THEREFORE, IF YOU EXPERIENCE EYE DISCOMFORT, EXCESSIVE TEARING, VISION CHANGES, OR REDNESS OF THE EYES, IMMEDIATELY REMOVE YOUR LENSES AND PROMPTLY CONTACT YOUR EYE CARE PRACTITIONER.

Storage

Store solution at room temperature. Do not freeze. Use before the expiration date marked on the carton. Discard container immediately after use.
